In the spring of 2005, TCG Nordica held a successful “Nordic- Yunnan Jazz/Contemporary music week”. It involved 11 high standard musicians from three Nordic countries. They presented a number of concerts and lectures to the audience in Kunming within a week. The success was great and the audience was satisfied. The music was of high quality and originated from the countries of Grieg, Sibelius, ABBA and Roxette.
As a continuation of last music week, TCG Nordica was holding the second International Music Week from November 24 to 30 2008. It was once again a cooperation with Yunnan Art Institute, that invited 12 excellent musicians from 6 western countries. The music fans in Kunming got a chance to enjoy both classic music and pop, especially music presented by the most famous Norwegian cellist, Aage Kvalbein who has been the top cellist in Europe in recent decades. Also a Miao Choir and local musicians performed on stage with a Danish soprano, Marianne G Nilsson. The Danish conductor Nenia Zenana conducted the choir. TCG Nordica presented a music event that could comfort the hearts of the audience with excellent singers and musicians. At the time, we offered various concerts, master classes, lectures and exchanges.

FORWARD

The year of 2008 is unforgettable in many ways. It brought along many natural disasters. The Olympic games showed the beauty of human power and wisdom. The economic crisis washed away the world’s confidence. All things that can make us feel a mix of excitement and desolation. We realize that life is uncontrollable. Even though, we still keep the good wishes and hope for the future days.
Music is a special grace from the creator. It flows without a visible shape, it can wash away worries, please our souls, bring comfort in sadness, and also stimulate our spirits. The most amazing thing about it is that music can cross over the differences of cultural barriers, edifying humans with different languages and religions. In addition, it is a part of human hearts, which are sublime and in the godly beauty above the physical world.

Through this music week and based according to our vision “stimulating reflection on human worth as expressed in various Arts Forms”, we wish it can move our hearts and souls, so that they can receive the peace and joy. In the end, their eyes rise upon to the area where is above the disasters whatever produced by nature or human beings.
