“TO FARAWAY LAND” Astrid Lindgren Exhibition

Astrid Lindgren was a most important Children writer in Sweden. She wrote over 80 books which have been translated to over 90 languages. Her books influenced many ages’ children even adults. Pippi Longstocking is one of her success mold literary figure.

During the August 26th till to September 12th of 2006, TC/G Nordica will hold series activities to memorize Astrid Lindgren together with Swedish Institute and Swedish Embassy in China. There are Children performances; Lectures; Exhibition; English corner ;films and Workshops etc. you are very welcome to join us!

Saturday: August 26
16:00 Exhibition Opening
: “In the Light of the World of Astrid Lindgren” with the Swedish Institute. Children’s art exhibition with Chuang Ku Children’s Art Studio and Cecilia Nelson. Yi Hai Children’s Orchestra, Swedish and Norwegian cultural exchange students, dancer Liz Alford as Pippi Longstocking. “To Faraway Land” - a film about Astrid Lindgren and children’s rights will be shown

12:00-16:00 Special Lunch

Monday: August 28
20:00 English Corner with Cecilia Nelson, art pedagogist and founder of the Art Gallery of Lund, Sweden

August 29 – September 6
16:00-21:00 TC/G Nordica is open daily for reading Astrid Lindgren’s and other Swedish authors’ books for children, listening to music and watching “To Faraway Land”

20:00 English Corner with art workshop and discussions with Swedish artists

Thursday: September 7
20:00 Lecture and art workshop (for children aged 12-14 years) at TC/G Nordica and Chuang Ku. Artist and author
Anita Bergendahl-Steiner and Chinese translator Ji Hong Peterson will introduce Anita’s book “Jacob Is Sailing to China,” also available in Chinese
