Liz Alford began her classical ballet training at the age of 7. By age 13 she was spending every summer at the nation‘s top ballet summer programs on full scholarship. Some of the schools she attended were the Chautauqua School for Performing Arts, The School of American Ballet (official school of the New York City Ballet), the Houston Ballet Academy, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. At age 91 she was invited to become a year round student at the School of American Ballet so she moved to New York City to train there full time. When she was 18 she was hired by the New York City Ballet as a ballerina. After dancing with them professionally for one year she resigned to attend college.
Liz now has her bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Communications from Gordon College in Boston, USA.
Since graduating, Liz has taught ballet, jazz, and funk to adults and children in both Shanghai and Kunming.
As well as dance performances, Liz can also be seen in Columbia Picture’s film Center Stage as an ABA dancer. This film was released in 2000.
