In the ‘Echo’ concert we reflected on our natural environment through music. Forests, wetlands and oceans, the three greatest ecosystems of our planet, shaped that concert. This time we are exploring the power of life in three new environments.
Old Scandinavian melodies, soundscapes
An island can be found in the heart of every human. An island that like a miniature version of the world is ever more bustling and busy, yet also more bleak. Do we want islands to be the promised land of our dreams or desolate places covered in the trash of civilization?
Improvisiation, conflict, imagination
Deserts with little to no life cover immense swathes of our planet. Yet nothing is eternal. Sahara, a waste land the size of China, wasn’t always a desert: 10.000 years ago humans walked in it’s forest, fished in it’s lakes and hunted on it’s grasslands. While Sahara became a desert because of natural changes, vast areas all over the world are today threatened by desertification caused by humans.
Multi-elemental, fusion
One of the greatest changes of the last 100 years has been the movement of people to cities. At the beginning of the 20th century by far the most of humankind lived in on the countryside, in villages and small towns. Now, more than half life in great artificial enviroments that are so noisy that all of our ears have taken permanent damage. The tight knit community of village and clan has been substituted for an alienating jungle of steel and concrete. Cities comes in all kinds and shapes, but more often than not cities are built in an ad hoc fashion shaped by economic needs with little thought for the happiness of the inhabitants.
