前言
在中国当代艺术近三十年的历史中，摄影最早用来记录行为艺术以及重要的社会事件，在九十年代中后期，摄影逐渐成为一门独立的样式被艺术家们用来创作，那时被称作观念摄影，也即是今天的当代摄影。在很大程度上，当代摄影深受中国当代艺术流行的方法论、语言学及图式的影响，因此很大程度上也被称作中国当代艺术的当代摄影。
这次“面目全非”摄影展囊括了从50后到80后的八位摄影师的最新作品，他们的作品在各自不同的技术与主题上探索。何滢赟以微距摄影方式关注人肌肤与情绪波动之间的联系；吕力的摄影关注中国城市化进程中那些不经意的景观；林迪通过iphone随身拍摄城中村的家禽与家园的关系；盛春宇通过拍摄自己的肢体语言来表达对个体孤独的思考；王玉辉通过数字化处理营造超现实的砖墙景观；杨晓翔的纪实摄影关注香港九龙底层的夜生活；张永宁的摄影显出他对捕捉生活环境和身边人事的浓厚兴趣；王锐的摄影以较大尺寸的透明胶片来呈现面孔的微妙状态。这八位摄影师的作品在整体面貌上反映出当代摄影在中国的几个主要方向：数字图象、景观摄影、肖像摄影、纪实摄影、私摄影等。
摄影师们将展览命名为“面目全非”，我想，一方面可以理解为摄影概念及其方式在今天已经和经典摄影（纪实、胶片、暗房）之间发生了巨大的变化。另一方面，摄影作为对时间和空间的记录，当摄影师记录下来的时候，其实已然成为了独立的视觉样本，而非对客观事实的还原。第三方面，在主题关怀上，大家的创作大致分为对中国城市化进程中的城市景观变迁，以及对个体内在身份关注两方面。无论是个人还是社会，抑或内在冲突与外在张力，这一切都促使个体与国家面临转型期时所要作出的深刻变化，而这，也正是这个展览所希望引起反思和讨论的。
