卡尔 G 托尔斯坦森 1948年生于瑞典 乌普萨拉
作为一个艺术家他的作品涉及雕塑，绘画，以及装置，大部分的作品和项目都有一个主题。他同时也为剧院和博物馆设计舞台和服装等等。他为剧院工作了近40年，在73年时做了自己的第一个个展。
从那之后，他做了近50个个展，大部分在瑞典，也在美国，德国，芬兰，日本和挪威办过展览
90年代之后他开始专注于“制作空间”的创作，早期时的绘画受到更多的印象主义的影响，80年代以后逐渐转向以内在空间为主的作品，他的剧院作品和他自己的艺术创作开始越来越多的互相影响。
如今，他不再使用特定的材料创作，在名为“现在生长公司”的展览中，常常以存在的问题例如谁有使用生长中的材料的权利展开创作。
从98年开始他使用大米为材料创作了一系列的作品，其中一件题为“这不是一个婚礼”的作品是关于伊拉克战争的。
所有的展览一般都由绘画和装置组成。
参加过的国际展览有Eventa II, III, V等，主题为“风” “水”以及“人类”
在07年这一年作品很多在教堂中展示的作品，其中最近的一件叫做“测量之不可测量”
卡尔 G 托尔斯坦森同时也做过很多公共雕塑作品，这时他尝试使用不同的材料作为媒介。
即将在昆明和瑞典展出的艺术作品是卡尔和艺术家安妮卡 哈格兰德合作的作品，他们使用了他们在2个半月的旅途中收集的各种材料，如当地的土壤，染料和其他一些天然材料来完成他们的作品，他们的旅程始自瑞典，越过外蒙古到达北京，又探访了内蒙古和昆明附近的山村。
